Quick update -

We booked the Eventi, it was always near the top of my list and then when we checked on Expedia it was £570(excluding taxes) for 4 nights, I literally could not type my credit card numbers in quick enough LOL

Thank you all again for your suggestions.

Hope you have a great trip and a fab birthday :)

We stayed at the Sofitel on W44th, 5*, was really good and probably the most comnpfortable baed I have ever slept in.

We paid £628 with taxes booking direct, which for Thanksgiving week was significantly cheaper than a lot of other hotels !

I've stayed at the Affinia 50 a few years ago and loved it. It was a suites hotel, didn't have a dining room but there was an excellent diner a couple of doors down and a complimentary happy hour every evening to compensate.

When i got married in NY we stayed at Affinia Shelburne, lovely beds, you can choose different pillows :) Location is good, close to Grand Central.
they have a rooftop bar but probably not open in winter, as mentioned rare bar and grill has nice burgers
