Just wondering...

Does anyone actually know, or is there an easy way to make an educated guess? I remember some information on VS FC coming out during the Leveson Inquiry, but I think that was more about UNIQ.

Thanks!

I'm fairly sure that this topic has bubbled to the surface before.

You are not going to get an answer from VS as this will considered commercially confidential, and a straw poll on v-flyer isn't going to be helpful as not all readers are posting members, many may be reluctant to identify their FC status and, in general, we are a self-selecting group.

There are, however, several ways that you might, theoretically, identify the numbers of each level of membership, but the accuracy will depend on the population sample and the statistical method used to mine the data.

Thanks, NV, JCBR.

NV: Thanks for this. I'm sure it has been raised before. I wonder whether looking at the numbers of another airline's elite programme (whose numbers are known) and then pro-rating by pax numbers for VS might work as a very broad guesstimate?

JCBR: The relevant Leveson testimony can be found here: http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov. ... Brady1.pdf

Evidence here: http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov. ... JAB-11.pdf

It's related to the alleged leaking of confidential information about VIP passengers to the media by a VS employee. There's not that much information, but it's an interesting read.

A couple of things to come out (at the time of testimony) are:

1) There are 17 UC Customer Service employees (testimony, para. 23)

2) A page from the VS handbook about UNIQ submitted in evidence, which gives an indication of who is on the UNIQ programme (bizarre capitalization not mine) (evidence, page 11): "This could entail members from Royal Families from the UK or abroad, senior UK and International Government Ministers and MP’s, UN Ambassadors, and US Senators and Congressmen. Not forgetting many "A" list Celebrities, and key businessmen and women from influential corporate industries."

3) That UNIQ handbook page, considering it is an official piece of VS documentation, is absolutely full of spelling and grammar mistakes!

Not much use for calculating VS Au members, but interesting nonetheless.

It would be interesting to determine the source of the '5000'; I'm sure that BA will not be publicising their tier memberships.
