Premium economy upgrade voucher question

Wondering if someone out there can help me. I am planning a trip to Atlanta in April and I can see that there are seats available in both EC and PE for the dates I want. I know that at the end of February I will be receiving x2 EC > PE upgrade vouchers through AMEX, so my question is, can I book the PE seats now and then when I get the vouchers, ring up FC and use the voucher and get some points back? Im thinking this would work as there only needs to be availability in PE to be able to use the upgrade voucher, but please correct me if I am wrong.

No you can't do that.
They would have to cancel the original tickets and then rebook them again. The danger with that is that there are no PE reward seats then and even though you would in theory be cancelling some there is no guarantee that they would be released again.

Thanks Neil. Its good to know that just because you cancel a reward flight, it doesn't necessarily mean it gets released again. I'll stop trying to be clever and suck it up and book the seats and use the vouchers another time
