I was there about 10 days ago transiting. With delta you can go anywhere from ATL! I think the summer double daily is to also help family's get to MCO as its only 59 mins flight from ATL. Not sure about stopping over in the city?

RyanJW how was the transfer at ATL?

i'm going through there in a few weeks VS-DL to MCO

i've got 1:45 between scheduled arrival/departure, no idea whether that'll be easy or tight

Over the years I have been to and through Atlanta many times, indeed it is fair to say that I have visited there more than I have London!
Like any metropolis there is plenty to see and do, Visitor and Convention website is a good starting place. I tend to avoid downtown hotels and prefer the northern Buckhead area. There you will find a good selection of hotels, upmarket shopping and restaurants etc.
The train system (MARTA) is clean and modern and serves all areas including directly into the airport. Don't bother with a car if you are just staying in the city, traffic can be horrendous!
Certainly worth a couple of days stopover and if you are just transiting the airport is pretty efficient with an over abundance of onward Delta connections.

That's plenty. My transfer window was 56 mins and I made it with loads of time to spare. It's a big airport but one of the things I like about delta is on the exit at the gate, you have a screen as you emerge from the tunnel with all the connections and gate numbers. Makes it really easy to find out where your heading next.

It's a big airport and multiple 'terminal sections'' of the main Delta terminal though and there is a train underneath to all the A,B,C terminal sections. If you arrive at A and your next flight is at B then it's about 5 minute walkable.

Hi-

I took VS103 LHR-ATL yesterday! The early arrival time makes it, I believe, the first European arrival into Atlanta for the day, so immigration lines were almost nonexistent upon arrival.

The only thing is that bags weren't offloaded by priority, and Upper Class bags came about halfway through the offloading. Same thing happened to my mother when she passed through a few days ago.

Still the bags came off very quickly (for Atlanta), and I went from the plane to the waiting car in about 20-30 minutes.

DL do about 15 flight a day ATL-MCO so even if you were to miss the connection you should be fine!
