How current are Load checks on 3rd party sittes

Having recently asked for a load check and NV44 obliged it showed 1 upper available out bound and 0 inbound a week later.

Today I received a curtesy phone call from virgin asking me if they could do anything for my upcoming flight in which I replied let some Gs seat become available.

I did ask what is available and he replied 2 outbound and 9 inbound , so back to my original point how upto date are load checks?

It not really a case of them been up-to-date or not. They are up-to-date, it's just that there is more than 1 system used for selling fares.

Expertflyer etc. access the airlines GDS fare system, which is the system all airlines use to sell fares via travel agents.

Airlines also have their own fare selling tools and fare inventory (using the website/call centre etc) which is for just direct bookings and reward inventory etc.

The inventory in each system is kept separate and whilst airline's revenue management departments can and do move revenue fares across from their directly booked system to the GDS system (and vice versa) as well as converting revenue fares into reward fares or the other way around, you will never get the full picture looking at just data from the GDS system.

This is also why load checks are often not very accurate.

Interesting call, did they let you book the G's (and do you have your new tickets yet )

I know when I have booked flights, EF has literally changed after the booking was confirmed, so if its the case that there is a difference, you've got to question whether EF is worth the money
