...until our first UC experience, LGW-MCO. Looking forward to sampling the delights of the CH. Any tips? I am hoping to book a treatment for my OH - we are on VS27 so hoping there might still be some availability for spa treatments by the time we're in the Clubhouse. I will be busy keeping our son entertained so probably just having a breakfast and a chill out myself.

for LGW i aim to check in at least 3 hours before flying, grab any duty free then into CH

on entry, OH books any spa wanted immediately, i drop off shoes if needing a polish

bag table for brekkie, order first bubbly with it

after brekkie decamp to comfy chairs

order more bubbly - repeat until flight is called

Of topic, sorry to OP for butting in...but...

I plan on wearing my lovely black leather Chelsea boots for my next flight (I might not pack till t-24 but I plan an outfit months in advance) and was going to hand them in for a shine. Do they provide a slipper to wear or do I walk around in my socks? Also is it customary to tip the shoe shiner? Never used the service before...

Back to the OP question, as others have said...get there early, really early. Book your treatment and enjoy!!!

We go to the Hilton the day before and have breakfast there in the morning before going over to the CH. Once at CH don't really do much except chill before the flight and try NOT to drink, drop a quick note to this board to try and make others jealous. (at least that's how I feel when I read someone is jetting off)
I do like a glass or two once we have boarded.
I like to board early as the LGW config doesn't have enough overhead lockers for the seats. If you cant bag one early just give your case to the cabin crew.
I still have 66 days to wait for ours. LGW to MCO; a night in the Hyatt at MCO and 330 mile drive up to S Carolina.

Thanks for the replies, we are staying at the Sofitel the night before so should be checking in around 8ish for the 11.40am flight. Slightly less convenient than the Hilton but last time we stayed at the Hilton we found the bed was tiny (we like room to spread out!) and very hard so we didn't get much sleep, thought we'd try an alternative this time. I know it won't be a patch on the LHR Sofitel but it looks fine for an overnight stay.

Darren you are given slippers just like the ones you find in hotels - the white towelling ones.

As for tipping, it's up to you. Some do, some don't. I rather think there's a saucer next to the stand in the LHR CH

The only thing I plan months in advance is my holiday! Do you plan your outfit because of flying in UC/using clubhouse? Im planning on just wearing what I usually wear! :-)

I don't wear anything special for flying, in fact when I flew to Vegas I had my converse on but only noticed when we took off they had chicken sh*t on them! :$
I just like to have in my head what I'm going to wear. Working in fashion doesn't help!

Dear DrFlyer, here's a good plan:

Eat
Drink champagne / mojito / redhead (delete as appropriate or try the lot ): )
Make gratuitous and repeated "hello from the Clubhouse" posts on the forum

Repeat until flight is called.
Enjoy flight and holiday and please post a TR ;)
