Back in October 2011 I was delayed by 284 minutes (not that i was timing it !) by VS from MCO-LGW. the reasons i was given by ground staff varied from, technical, lack of catering to lack of crew and several others.

When we arrived back in the UK i filed a claim with VS for the EU compensation. they took over a year but eventually refused it saying the matter was exceptional circumstances.

I complained to the CAA in July 2013 and initially the CAA believed VS and denied the complaint. I appealed to the CAA stating VS had given them different reasons to what they gave me. the CAA sent the complaint back to VS to reconsider.

Today i received from VS a cheque for the full €600 :D y)

So it pays to persevere, although VS have had the last laugh, i used the money to book another flight with them :)

Well done!

A few V-Flyers have reported receiving EU261/2004 compensation in recent days. VS have obviously had the chequebook out following the recent court ruling.

I have another 3 claims still with VS, let's hope they pay up on those as well, all the same circumstances as today's pay out.

A nice early Christmas present :)
