...yet another day where for the DXB flights I want, Emirates (and for that matter Etihad going to AUH) are still much cheaper. Yes, it's the holidays, but VS have always been much more reasonably priced in prior years. Annoying, especially as neither Emirates or Etihad have a PE equivalent, so economy beckons again :(

Or even better, Qatar have stupidly cheap fares via Doha if I can get my dear wife to accept an indirect route. Are VS/BA no longer bothering to compete with the gulf operators on price, or has that just always been the case and I've not noticed until now?

Ah, now there's an interesting one... I originally looked and they were about the same as Emirates, but now I take a closer look, they also have nicely timed flights on Emirates metal, but quite a bit cheaper. Still comes in around £100 each more expensive than Qatar, but being direct helps...

Thanks for the pointer. If only VS were interested in matching those prices. Just for the record, the 'all in' price for 4 of us at the moment is:

Qatar: £1158
Qantas (EK codeshare): £1573
BA: £2810
Virgin: £2968

Barmy... but now that I'm pretty much resigned to Y, it's 99% about the price for me.

Why not look at QF on QF metal - it has a PE offering....

Ouch.

Just pinched MIA in late March, for UC out PE back for £1400...So there are some good fares in there, I've never had the need to go to MIA before now, but I gather this is a reasonable price...Just need to grab a G on the return now :)
