:(! ii) ii) ii) ii) ii) ii)

Not a happy bunny, with over 10 years of use with VA, 4 of them being a gold member, I have now gone back to silver over 1 tier point. I would not mind, but I am flying with them in 2 days time.

I even phoned them and they said there is nothing they can do. I know plenty that have had there Gold renewed with less tier points. Well, I will not use up my miles all 200K of them and go else where I think and VA have dropped a few of my favorite routes.

Rant Over.

Sorry to hear that happened. Maybe it is worth sending a email directly to FC to re-iterating the missing by 1 tier point and the fact you are flying in a couple of days. If you include the info such as your PNR for them to check, you might get a more sympathetic ear by the actual FC team than the call centre.

Hmm, disappointing. I'm 4TPs short of my 4th AU renewal, and although I could make that up without too much difficulty, I was thinking of just letting it ride and chance my arm, as I'm not that desperate, with a lot more of my flying going to BA and other OW carriers now. But sounds like there could be a crack down going on.

I agree this ought to be pushed though, even BA generally allow some latitude if you have confirmed flights coming up just after the renewal date...

I am only silver but I will also be one point short at renewal time so I'm going back to Red.
I know I'm one point short and could have done a trip on Little Red to get it.
I weighed up the pros and cons and decided not to.
As far as I am concerned I haven't the required number and that's it.

I'm sure one of you can answer this, but my 39 points were earned between Feb and Dec. as I have gone down to silver, do my points reset completely or do the 39 stay there as they are still within the 12 month period (I remember my wife's droppping down and all points still within the year stayed).

Being dropped for being 1 TP short is unusual, particularly when you've been Au for several years.

Maybe they're getting tough on orders from on high (ie Atlanta). Or maybe they're trying to cut Au numbers given the added pressure on Clubhouses due to usage by DL FFs. Or maybe you just got a jobsworth agent and someone else will be more sympathetic, who knows.

I wonder if the demise of Little Red will see a reduction in Au numbers, as the opportunities for cheap and easy TP runs without travelling to the US will vanish.

Just spoke to FC again, it seems once I do my outbound flight in 2days I will get my gold back. So all over 8 days, the IT systems at VA (which are not the best) have got to down grade me for 8 days, and then upgrade me to Gold on the 9th Jan.

It's not like I use the companion ticket, but at least it will be back. Luckily my wife is gold so still get the clubhouse anyway.

Great news, although will that exclude you from claiming AU for life? i.e you'll have to earn another 10 consecutive years at AU.

8 days or 8 hours, it will still technically be an interruption in the AU streak you have going on. Perhaps there in lay the reason why... lots of people they project going at AU for life and they need to cull the numbers ii)

That's what I was thinking too.
