It was in no measure helped by the manager, Claire who was a legend among legends along with Luz. And then there was (I think) Tiina in LAX.

Oh, those were the days *deep sigh*

Only downside is that SFO Clubhouse is landside. Will never relax there if there's a chance of getting stuck at security, so I leave early.

It does have nice views of the runway though.

But they don't tell you that.

You have to know to ask.

I am sure I saw a sign at the wine bar saying you could ask a member of staff for champaign in the various Galleries Clubs at LHR? Self pour in Galleries First and have to ask for it in the Concorde Room.

I would agree that for leisure travellers the BA lounges are not like the VS lounges at all, but they are still a lot better than most other lounges you can end up in on other airlines. If you are a business traveler just going into the lounge for a short time, I can see the self serve aspect to be much more convenient.

As an aside, I was just in the JNB lounge again recently. I always like it there; I think the staff are great, and it's a well-designed lounge considering its relatively small size.

I agree about the JNB lounge, think it is shared with Swiss Air or a similar airline. There are showers there, which was very handy the time I used it, and it was very, very nice.

Only Swiss first class customers get the clubhouse at JNB, business have one of the generic lounges. So very few additional customers at any point. Agree the JNB lounge and service very good.

Ah, that explains why it's never too busy in the JNB CH. I also appreciate the decent selection of SA wines too...
