And to the OP, if I did what you've done I'd have to sleep with one eye open, good luck to ya ):

Looks like I'm going to have to disguise the title when I next post about a trip without Mrs B then ( assuming I go away again without Mrs B that is :w )

It's a difficult situation I must admit.

The OH came out to join me for a holiday in the Far East a few years back when I was out there working in Hong Kong and Bangkok. I had a BA CW Avios rewards return. He flew a Qantas/BA Economy return. Can't say I felt very comfortable with myself in the upper deck, lying in my flat bed, eating better food and knowing he was up the back slumming it.

Did I give up my seat? Did I hell as like ):

My excuse was I had work the next day so needed to rest :w

We have always flown together since mind you :|

Well as expected the wife wasnt happy, we missed out on a PE seat at the weekend and after showing her how few seats are becoming available I am now booked on two flights (my original UC and a second one in EC) the second flight the wife is now in the UC seat. Hedging my bets and will move us around depending on which flight has better availability opening up. Just hoping for a PE seat becoming available at worst otherwise I am stuck with legroom seats in EC. Few redheads in the clubhouse to make up for it.

Another quick question, im sure i have seen something posted along these lines. But has anyone had any problems upgrading there seat from EC to PE or UC after paying for legroom seats in EC. Im sure I read someone struggled with this because they had to cancel the seat first. I could be wrong but it would be good to get a feel for it before I book the legroom.

Cheers

Update.... and it might answer some of the questions from above :)

Well waking up at 5.30 I found 1 PE seat had become available on the second flight I booked so I called up and added my amex upgrade voucher and bagged that seat. So as of 6am the Wife was in UC and I was in PE on a flight leaving a few days later than the original one we wanted.

We were fairly happy with this and then spotted when going to work 2 PE had become availble the day before this flight. After a chat with the wife we decided that we would regret one of us not being in UC so left it.

By the time i got to my desk a PE seat for the original flight I wanted us to be on had become availble so straight onto the amazing flying club (the last 3 calls have been excellent) who did all the hard work.

When I mentioned what I needed to do - change the upgraded PE flight that was in my name and move it to the first flight in my wifes name she said it would be a £25 change fee and £50 name change fee. I asked about cancelling and booking again.

She said thats not a problem, refunded all my miles, fees and reward upgrade and did the booking again. It cost £30 to do this, there was no problem with getting my miles back and there was no problem re-using my reward upgrade.

All good so far, just got to keep my eye out for a UC to upgrade the wife to or let her have my seat if I cant get her UC on the way home. Thanks to everyone here for answering questions and sorry if I have rambled on :)

Think the wife might be a little happier now, we have been a bit naughty and couldnt wait for the return redemptions to open up. I spotted Qatar Business class CPT to MAN via Doha for just over £1k per person. One of the legs is on their new 787 (perfect chance to compare and contrast) and the second leg is on an a320 (hopefully the new refurb product) At that price with the chance of experiencing the doha business lounge and the qatar business product I couldnt resist. Just gotta get the wife on UC on the way out.

On the bright side it leaves us enough miles to do a return UC to cancun in late 2016 :)
