Annual Christmas Dubai trip planning in full swing . Brilliant room rate achieved with half board at the JBH after an email directly to the General Manager there .
Now to the flights we have 300 miles to spend and are aiming for UC but as we know these are hard to find on this route at Christmas/New Year. Lucky I checked as the seats were released a day early for the day we wanted one UC and two economy were there so I nabbed them the FC agent said who is having the UC seat without hesitation I said my wife mainly as she was sitting next to me !
So my life from now until December is keeping my eye on the VA website to see what pops up .

Its nice to see that its not just me that buys on the day of release then checks several times a day for the upgrades.

To give you a little glimmer of hope, yesterday I received the "courtesy call" from VS regarding my upcoming flight to Dubai next week. I was able to get 2 G's in exchange for some miles and a small injection of cash to change my non upgradeable PE Fare. With the G's secured, I was put through to the UC Support Line to book my slot at the Upper Class Wing

So here goes the latest update.
3 or 4 checks a day to the website with no more availability for upgrades or an extra seat for the day we have booked.
Monday morning came and 4 PE reward seats pop up for the day prior to our original booking, grabbing the bull by the horns straight on to FC to grab them. 3 no problem however my wife's UC seat can not be down graded?. Quick call to the OH and we agree I will fly with the girls and my OH will fly the following day.
Tuesday comes and I am still checking for the elusive UC seats even as I chair a boring meeting! guess what 4 UC's pop up. Quickly finish the meeting "any other business anyone? no? great" rush back to my office and on to FC. Yes the seats are still there secure the seats passed to UC bookings and the jobs a good one. 4 UC seats on the same day one happy family just the return flights to sort!

Yay! And YAY for boring meetings that allow you to check during them as well as being in the driving seat to bring them to a quick resolution. Everyone else was probably praising your chairing skills at delivering them from boredom!
