Hello everyone. Wow your response to this has been fantastic. If only one of you kind people actually worked for Virgin Atlantic then my problem would be solved
Just to comment on some points raised. The carriage terms posted by 'Eggtastico' is what I have highlighted in my letter to Mr. Kreeger. I agree with Neil though, it is a tricky one but there is no mention of the 5hour significant change policy. My Niece (a corporate lawyer) says that is a sticky one to wiggle out of for them, as you cannot quote what is not written in words!
But the thing is, I am not looking for any kind of refund just the chance to be offered 'an alternative flight'.
It would certainly seem that once they hear the words "I am booked on a 'G' ticket" any flexibility or support is instantly diminished.
I am honestly wondering whether there is any the point of saving miles these days. Over the years I have had many reward, upgrades and M+Money fares. I guess I have been lucky as I've never experienced any issues. I have also done lots of connecting flights via JFK when travelling down to Orlando. Never have we had a problem caused by VS altering schedules. My thoughts are with someone who said early, the problem lies with the joining up with Delta! They obviously are now in charge. VS do what they are told - and the result is clearly a lack of customer service and the fact loyalty is not a word VS seems to care about anymore.
So sad
I have had no acknowledgement of my email - but is that a surprise!! I have considered the options of booking our onward travel with another airline late evening on 16th April and loosing our initial flight to PHX with US Airways. However the time factor is really bothering us. The prospect of continuing our travelling at 10.30pm + and not arriving in Phoenix and then Scottsdale until well after midnight
( now body clock says its morning uk time) is really not something we really want to contemplate and to be honest we shouldn't have to be shifting our well organised plans at this late stage.
Whether or not we receive any satisfaction (I am not feeling that lucky) I certainly will have learnt about booking onward travel
and secondly will be very wary of 'G' fares
. From now on I'd go in with my eyes & mind wide open. If everything goes to plan be happy but prepare for the worse
. Importantly I acknowledge this is not an issue just associated with Virgin Atlantic.
Ironically today, I have received the apologetic email regarding the schedule change of the VS23 and to rub salt into my wounds - they say to call them if I "have an onward connection on a Virgin flight". Moral of this story = get VS to book your connections for you, using their buddy Delta and then the reservation would be under one booking reference
