I've been looking at a few flight options in the last few days to sooth my post-holiday blues (once that settles down I'll do a TR... :w ) and to plan a potential trip, but every time I do a search, I get about 3 emails after each search from VS saying things like "you are almost there", "still thinking about [insert destination]" etc.

I think this is a new "feature" but I'm not enjoying it... How about fellow v-flyers? I'm sure I'm not the only one that has been looking at flights :D

OK, I have tried a few, will see what happens next. How far along in the process did you get though? Did you add them to your basket or check the box for any of the flights?

Don't log into your FC account if you are just browsing so they won't know it's you so won't be able to send emails!

Also check your communications preferences in your FC account as well.

I wasn't very far along at all in the search. I think no further than clicking on the options and looking at the total on the right hand side. I've done the searches for cash and for miles bookings. No basket was involved. I think this is why I'm finding these emails quite irritating, as I was only browsing, and have not "abandoned" my basket or anything like that.

Also I did log out of my FC account but I'm guessing that as I was previously logged on, it remembered me somehow? Will check my communication settings, thanks. I think it is a new "initiative" but could be wrong.

I've had the same emails, but luckily they go straight into my Junk email folder so they are not too annoying. Like you I think I got as far as selecting specific flights and looking at the total.

Weird, I haven't had any e-mails and I'm usually logged in when I search (I've been looking for an upcoming trip that we're very excited about, too!) I do find I get an extraordinary amount of similar e-mails from Expedia. Their's are pushier, e.g. "Last call for flights to xxxx" and similar, which, when I first received them, made me worry I'd missed a flight or booking!

I've done quite a few searches in recent weeks, I was logged in, but had no emails. I'll try (not difficult) not to feel left out, spurned, unwanted. :#

I don't get these from VS when I do dummy bookings but I do get them A LOT from Expedia!! I think I am the unofficial travel agent for my friends so commonly get asked to "have a look what you can find for these dates" etc which means I am getting shed loads!!!

I have had the occasional ones from VS and especially VH. Also from Expedia "are you still interested in this hotel" and trip advisor quite a few a day.

Ah glad I'm not the only one!

And don't get me started on Expedia...! It's great for searching for ex-eu fares but man I wish they would stop spamming my inbox.

All the big companies do it, that's why they use cookies and if you're logged in to your account you're going to get spammed: I've had those emails from VS, I get loads from expedia, hotels.com, and then if I go to Amazon I get spammed for anything I've been looking at, same with Debenhams, House of Fraser, you name it. It's a peril of the modern Internet age I'm afraid.

Doesn't stop it being annoying though. I get daily emails from expedia, hotels.com and Amazon whether I've looked or not!

I clear my cache and cookies on a regular basis using CC cleaner

It's free and easy to use and can set it so that it works when you start up your computer or run it whenever you want.

It's jolly useful for resetting you number of views of e.g. newspaper websites when they limit you to X a month.

I don't recall seeing an email like that pop through to me in the past either.... clearly they don't want Joey on board :#

Must be communication preferences.
