I'm sure you will get something sorted Hev60, at least you have alternative options, maybe not flying in the cabin you want if you change flight, but you can get where you're planning to go, or book a later connecting flight.

I think if you were on a straight revenue booking you would have an easier time switching to the other flight (depending to some degree on the fare buckets restrictions), but as we all know, those G's are hard to come by, and we all know it's not customer services or anyone in FC who decides when reward seats are available and how many etc.

Best of luck.

I have just read this thread. wow. really feel for you.
I think I would simply take the later connections and just try really hard to get some sleep on the flight. I know that madam jetlag can be a frightmare but the alternatives just seem like too much stress to try to arrange.
well thats my nickels worth but what ever you do i hope something gets worked out in the end.

What a huge disappointment for you. i would be hopping mad myself, as I plan my vacations for months and any hiccough would be a real irritation. For you with connections it is even more of an issue. I hope it can be resolved.

What would I do? Fly the Y seats. Whilst I love flying in premium cabins, and look forward to these trips almost as much as the holiday destinations themselves, I would put it into perspective: a few hours disappointment vs. enjoying the rest of the trip compared to a few hours comfort vs missing the rest of the trip. And would you enjoy UC knowing that ypu were going to miss the connections?

I suppose one has to say VS are within their rights and it is all laid out in T&Cs (according to others, I have not read them). But it sucks and I suppose a learning point for all has to be, if you have tight connections to make, are VS the best airline to make the long-haul with?

Anyway fingers crossed that a satisfactory solution can be found.

I had issues with flight time changes that impacted later connections. I rung my insurance and they confirmed they would cover me to change my connecting flight. Meant I had to pay extra and then claim it back but it was sorted out in the end. Do you have insurance? Even worth trying credit card insurance if u paid with credit card?

Title change to Virgin Atlantic are kind & compassionate.

I have just received a telephone call from the Executive Office and they have very kindly allowed us to move onto the V7 which will allow us to make our internal connections.

I cannot express how grateful I am for their intervention and subsequent decision.

I feel very emotional but with happy tears now :D :D

Thank you my fellow v-flyers for your all your supportive comments and suggestions ^)

Excellent news and glad everything has now been sorted for you.

It is however very frustrating that you have had to have all this messing about and worry when it could and should have really been sorted by CS straight away.

Ah, that's excellent news - and well done to the exec office on the intervention.

As Neil rightly says though, it could/should have been sorted out much earlier in the process - the VS of old would have done and that's for sure.

:) Thanks everyone for your feedback

Aside from the rescheduling of that flight, the whole issue really related to the 'G' fares.

Although I was so upset about the time change and its consequences for my holiday, I do honestly understand how difficult it has been for VS to arrive at the solution. I am sure had we have been in any other of those other UC fare codes, then there wouldn't have been a problem. They have created those 'G' especially for us and I am so truly appreciative & grateful :D y)

Result and I am really delighted for you!

When VA changed flight times a couple of years ago, resulting in us missing our connection, they tried to accommodate us on another flight the same day and when they couldn't (because the flights were full), they agreed to refund the extra hotel expenses. They were very good about it and I felt they really took responsibility for the hassle, genuinely apologised and eventually deposited a nice chunk of bonus miles in my account as an apology. When they get it right, they get it really right!

Congratulations Hev60, wish I had complained 2 years ago but never thought I could. I usually just accept thats what its got to be and make arrangements around it. I shall know better next time. Fantastic news for you anyway, have a fabulous holiday. Linda :X

Yes it's a trip we've waited and looked forward to for five years. Following touring around parts of Arizona for six days, we then fly over to Monterey California. We shall visit the Big Sur and explore the Carmel area before driving up to San Francisco for five days from where we hope to also do a trip to Yosemite :)

Hi Hev 60,

We did the very similar trip about 5 years ago. It was one of the best holidays we have had, apart from the Canadian rockies. You will really enjoy Yosemite and hopefully all the waterfalls will be at full pelt at the time of year you are going. Hope you gave some trusty footwear. Linda y)
