Hi Guys,

This may seem like a bit of a boring needless question to some, and feel kind of like teaching your Grandad to use the internet (ironic really, given my age), but can anyone tell me how / the best way to put photos into a Trip Report?

I'm looking to do my first TR after my upcoming trip to Florida, and want to make sure that I put a few images in there to help make it a good one!

Any help would be great!

Thanks :) y)

When composing a new post (this applies to any post not just TR's) below the text box, you should see 2 tabs (options and Upload attachment)

1) Click the Upload attachment tab
2) Click on 'Choose file' and then browse to where your photos are saved.
3) Click the 'Add the file' button (the 'File comment' box is optional)
4) Place your cursor in the text box where you want the pic to go
5) Click the 'Place inline' button
6) That will place some code in the text box which will look something like: {attachment=0]DSC00051.JPG[/attachment} but will have square brackets, I've changed it to show what the code looks like without actually inserting a pic.
7) Hey Presto, you have pics in your posts.
8) You can move this code around your post, if the pic is not in a suitable place.
9) You do this for each pic you want to add to a post.

When writing to TR, click on

VF Pic.jpg

Search for your pic via "choose file", click "add the file", then click "place inline" which inserts the correct code - make sure its in the correct place in your text and continue till your hearts content.

Make sure your files aren't huge or they wont load.

Enjoy

I certainly can't help.
I recently did a trip report and had intended to show all the food on the flight. On my first attempt I got an error message that I had no permission and lost the complete report.
It was suggested I write the report in word and copy and paste then edit to add the photos.
I did that and was able to edit and add a couple of photos. Then I started getting the same error message.
So my TR now has some photos but not all the pictures I wanted. I have resized them on my computer to max 480 width.
It is just not consistent in what/when I can add or when I get rejected.

Thanks all, for the advice.

I have just tried (twice) to do this, and each time I get the following...
_____________
Information
The image file you tried to attach is invalid.
_______________

This is me trying to upload a photo taken from an iPhone, and using Safari on a MacBook, is this anything to do with this?

Thanks

But, dear DDC, aren't you linking out to another site that hosts your pictures? It's more straightforward to use the approach James and David suggest, albeit that that you need to compress / resize your pictures first (MS Office Picture Manager has an easy to use "Compress" capability).

Just for the avoidance of doubt, I have only ever managed to get this approach to work using my Windows p.c. and standard format picture files.

Well, after a bit of playing around on my MacBook, I've finally found a way of doing it (using the upload button on the page method)

Although, does anyone else find that this is a massive ball ache, when trying to upload more that 1 photo? Doing them all one at a time, or can you do several?

When that has happened to me, I have simply emailed the photo to myself and then exported it to iPhoto and then clicked on the new photo for Choose File. It worked for me when I was doing my recent SFO-DUB trip report.
