Been seen before. Specifically on the Cancun and Montego Bay routes... Around 1600 club for BA. I remember last year seeing them not only being matched, but bettered by a fair amount...

I don't bother checking the official VS sale page. Been a long time since it listed anything good, even when there were actually good fares available...

Seems as if the 1300ish ex Dub Honolulu BA TP runs are back on, with the 1100 west coast, and guess 900ish east coast... Any BA hog wanting to get some TP's in and see babybus and perhaps even gold, might be time to look again, before April 28th...

Hmm, will have to look at that, if I enjoy my 1st babybus experience this weekend :-) Fair to say that it's now my mission to maintain BA gold now I'm not allowed to fly VS any more for work...

You can book Ex-Eu trips directly with BA, though will charge in local currency online.

Oh dear, the First Class regulars won't like that. Their private old boys' club is at risk of being infiltrated by - shudder - the less moneyed. They'll be spluttering into their vintage port in the club tonight.

Oh boy, I do love a good sale!

As it happens I have to go to Tampa in June...

I could fly Virgin/Delta, in Upper, and via Atlanta, for £1,730. I'm not a fan of Delta, but that portion of the journey is only 1.5 hours.

or...

I could fly direct, with BA, in Business Class for £1,697. I've sworn off BA previously, but I might be tempted to give them one last chance with this opportunity to experience their Business service.

Decisions, decisions! ?|

I've been looking at flying to Miami FIRST for about 1600 quid around christmas, ex DUB.. Might be limited on dates for June if that's your aim...

Before this Ex Dub, to Vegas on VS it was 1200 quid. I was wondering if any of the directs to Cancun, or MJB might have changed. Oh for the old days when you knew they were competing on price and you could choose VS because they matched publically and you wanted to fly with them... Now its whispers that a decent fare exists on VS...

Hassle-wise, the direct flight is much easier than changing.

However if you are fussed about pre-booking seats and have no silver/gold card with BA, you will have to pay £140rtn to reserve a seat before OLCI so that erodes the saving.

Yes, that's one of the caveats of BA at business class level, you pay to book the seats.

I'd not pay to book virgin upper, frankly any of them will do, though some are preferable.

In BA, with backwards facing and stepping over people, its much more necessary. But not at that price.

Though I did a TP run just to be able to book 2 persons seats on two return flights. If you look at the avios that earned, and the 100% boost that silver gave to my avios from other flights, it actually earned more than the 1100 quid it cost...

Fly direct, tampa immigration is very quick and the 777 used on this route is great. Less dgander of luggage been lost and far less stressful

Oh, that's really annoying; I didn't realise you had to pay to pick your seat in Business on BA. That definitely takes the shine of the "bargain" price.

You don't if you are Gold, Silver or Bronze but you are date restricted so Bronze is only 7 days before departure.

And yes it's no bargain either!

Yes, but I'm [feeling] blue!

I'll have a think. I definitely won't pay for pre booking seats, so may just stick with Virgin/Delta. I'll need these tier points to renew silver anyway. But, a direct flight is still appealing.

Are you joking? BA 1st is usually large families, business travellers and avios flyers in my experience (we do 8 BA 1st flights a year). Not elite in anyway.
