Just settled into my suite for the 3 hour hop to Bangkok from HKG but wow so worth it
It won't replace virgin for me but this is a little spoiler just to experience it
The lounge was nowt special, a little disappointing really but I guess I've got used to the clubhouse too much
But the suite is amazing

I did that in November! While the aircraft and the suite are mind-blowing I thought the service was only so-so. They couldn't make the (advertised) mojito because they had no limes, the main course (lamb) was dry and overcooked, our seats were reallocated at the gate with no explanation given and, as the OP pointed out, the lounges at HKG and BKK are no more than average. However the on-board bar blows VS out of the water, the free wi-fi is great and the huge IFE screens are superb (if only for the nose & tailcams - I know a lot of people don't rate EK's IFE because it's heavily censored). And obviously you have to have a shower at 38,000 feet just so you can say you've done it!

It's only a 2/2.5 hour flight and I think it was about £550. Definitely worth doing for the novelty value or if you can get an upgrade/miles redemption but I don't think I'd pay several grand for long haul when EK's J product on the A380 is perfectly good.

Yes I agree with gumshoe
Amazing suite but service so so and only 3 of us in first.
I paid £460 for first then economy back although i'm not taking the return so well worth it for what was a 2 hr 30 flight.
I've just arrived at my hotel in Bangkok but ill try and do my 1st trip report tomorrow.

I'm with you , Linyilee, on this. I could afford to splash out in the £500's to sample a great experience which will give me , hopefully, wonderful memories, whereas I couldn't afford the thousands needed for a long flight.

sounds like a great way to try it out before splashing out on a longer flight. I am researching Biz class to Auckland for 2017 and even in Biz Class a return with Emirates is coming out at about 3,500 GBP. gotta keep saving those pennies !
