I've flown around Europe on many occasions with FR. Only once did I experience delaying issues. They've incorporated a healthy carry-on allowance of 10 kilos plus a small handbag/man bag. They're seating options are far cheaper than some of the legacy carriers. I find them proficient for a short hop to Europe.
With regards to aircraft preference, they're currently exploring the 737-900ER. These have the capacity to reach the east cost. This may be the more viable option as less seats will need to be filled.
Moreover, as we are aware, the current ryanair crew are proficient with the 737s hence little additional training would be required.
