Just had a pre flight call for our PE trip to SFO on Saturday-love it when that happens. interesting chat with agent on phone, apparently you can still turn up to clubhouse on the day and pay for entry if it's not too full if travelling PE I thought this was withdrawn and replaced with guest list. Either way I'll give it a go, not holding my breath though. Might be useful to others.

No, pay-as-you-go has always existed. Problem is the LHR Clubhouse has become significantly busier since DL moved several of its flights to T3 last year, so availability may have been more restricted. It remains to be seen whether that changes now DL have moved certain routes back to T4.

Have you checked the itinerary to see if anyone is flying UC, might save a £ or two.

Pre-flight call? When do you get those? Never had one personally.

They're basically sales calls. Ostensibly to "check everything's ok for your flight" but really to try and sell you an upgrade or extra legroom seat.

Pre flight I have received a number of calls that drop almost immediately. When I ring the number back I get a 'Hello it' VS sorry we missed you we'll try again later' message which tends to put me on edge particularly when they come when we are in the cab on the way to the airport..I have rung the UC line back before and been told they don't know why I have been called.

Didn't get any sales attempt during my call today. Not sure how/ why they select pax to receive them but I've certainly had them on more than a few occasions. I'm certainly not special. Was AG until recently but have dropped back to red so certainly not a status thing. I'll report back with results of clubhouse entrance as it doesn't look like any v-flyers are in upper.

Looks like I am one of the good-looking ones ;-)

Just got a call about my flight to Boston on Friday (coming back via Atlanta). Agent quoted me airport price of £1099 to upgrade to UC :0 I said thank you but no thank you v(

But, a good thing did come out of the call that I thought would be useful to share. I asked the agent to check UC availability on the ATL-LHR leg as my partner will be travelling back from work on the same flight and I would like to sit in UC with him. Agent confirmed the UC cabin is fully booked so no chance for me to get a seat (never mind) BUT, I can go in the lounge with him :D . I never knew about this perk of having an UC ticket so its brilliant that I can join him in the lounge, especially as our connecting flight gets us there with 3 hrs to spare. Definitely one to keep in mind, we don't often add personal travel onto his work trips but good to know if I am booked into a different class we can still enjoy the lounge together.

Yes, anyone who's eligible for lounge access can guest someone in as long as they're on the same flight.

Have had pre and post flight calls, and traveling in UC, so not just a sales call (though they do use the opportunity).
