So a family friend has decided to tie the knot with his other half. It just so happens that our friend happens to live in New York. Now this provides me with a excellent excuse (in truth I was only in need of a weak excuse but a excellent one is even better!!) to plan a trip to NY.

So I ventured on to the website to book my Mum, Mrs Fainty and I some seats. A real mix of revenue fares and rewards managed secure us 3 upper seats.

Now Mrs Fainty and I have been lucky enough to fly upper a few times now but these so far, have always been from LGW. This will be my mums first experience of anything other than economy.

The trip, in honesty, has me excited for all the new experiences we plan to take in for the first time:
1. DTCI
2. LHR clubhouse
3. Outbound flight on B787
4. JFK clubhouse
5. LHR 747 (nice to catch one before they are phased out)
6. LHR revivals lounge
7. The most important one of all is NY over Christmas

I'm like a small kid looking forward towards Christmas already!!! :D

Wonderful, absolutely fantastic. Great news on securing the Gs, and at Christmas. I'm sure you'll love it all, and your mother will have a ball. Don't miss the trees at the Rockefeller Centre.

Congratulations - you're going to love it! A great combination of aircraft too, the 747s are really good planes, the new 787s are just something else.

Very, very jealous in the nicest possible way!

Well done. Dont forget to check out what shows are on Broadway & book tickets before you go (no not as cheap as buying when you get there but the're usually a lot harder to get at that time of year) pre-order any bits you may want from Macy's & Bloomingdales to be delivered to your hotel as well.
Now sit back with a smug smile & look forward to your trip.

Fainty, there are few things in life that a mum can love as much as their child, but your list goes a bloody long way.

Take it from one who is working on training their UC spoiled son.

What a wonderful trip, I am already anticipating the clubhouse wave and TR.

Well it will still be a trip of firsts but alas not as previously advertised!!

Two emails today alerting me that there had been some amendments to both the outbound and return flights.

Outbound is now on a A330 (UCDS)
Return is now on a A340

I am sure both will be great and if I'm honest my mum will still love every second but I have to admit I really had my heart set on the Dreamliner!

Time for it to change back too...just make sure you're on top of assigning seats when it happens.

Have you booked for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular yet? It's truly weird and unique.

not sure if this still is the case but we went up the lift to the Bar at the Top of the Rock, no queue, no charge. We planned to spend the equivalent of the ticket prices if we had queued so we bought a couple of cocktails , ok - more than we planned as we were having fun and had great views of Manhattan and Empire State building - in the warm .

The other surprise was a great view of Central Park from the gents' loos. I am told by my husband. I was somewhat bemused when his first visit was quickly followed by a second, but with his camera this time until he explained about the view. zilch views from the Ladies though.
