Unexpected Hilton Honors boost

Just had an email - that looks real - from Hilton saying I have earned gold Honors status. Only thing is I have definitely not earned this - nowhere near enough stays in Hilton property.

All I can think is that I got gold status for free in the past with a previous employer. Maybe they have done a sweep of the system and upped everyone back to gold who got it free in the past?

Has anyone else had this email? I'll use the free in-room wifi for sure, but that's about it.

Not an email (yet) but noticed when researching my Orlando trips I have been moved to Gold - was actually waiting on it changing back, but you never know ...

Another nice Hilton gesture at the moment is that they've given me (and no doubt a lot of other Diamond members) 100,000 points. That's enough for one nights stay in ANY Hilton Worldwide (even the best / most expensive / most pointish (is that a word?) Hilton
is only 95,000. And with free wifi, upgrade, and breakfast (Diamond perks) then it's an excellent offer

Don't forget to get 1000 points for changing your HHonors password too.

It may be that HHonors have taken delivery of a shiny new CRM system and are "refining" their offering.

I hope they are as generous at end of the year if I'm a few nights / stays short of retaining Diamond....

Just booked 3 nights at the Hilton Plaza Vienna with our 100,000 + 20,000 points we already had. Topped it off with BA reward flights to get us there. y)

I have hilton gold status. no idea how or why, but I get monthly statements confirming my gold status.
I have never set foot in a hilton hotel, but they got my right name & address. So im not complaining.

I was already gold and about to be demoted, had confirmation I am gold for another 2 years.....thanks.

We did take advantage of the extra 1,000 points for updating the password and are getting closer to a useful redemption!

No. Stays and nights register whether you are using money or points. Give them a call.

Thank you! Sadly I fear it's too late; I have been reading through their T&Cs and see that their calendar year is January to December, and both stays were last year. We would/should have been at Silver level. I'll definitely keep an eye on it as I think we're staying at a Hilton twice this month and may qualify for Silver again this year, so I'll be more on the ball.

Curses. I've just booked 3 nights in separate Hiltons then noticed my Silver ran out and now I'm lowly Blue
