Having completely b*ggered up this year's summer schedule by not being sharp enough with accommodation for Edinburgh, we're casting around for alternatives in Europe. As we are a bit...particular.. about our accommodation requirements (no resorts, walking distance for eating in evening, no kids clubs..) I think we need the assistance of a TA. We'd been thinking about Turkey (mixing some beach time with a few days in Istanbul) and contacted one 'specialist' TA who managed to come back with exactly the opposite of what we asked for.

To be honest, the TA is probably struggling with our being late to the party and with the specificity of our requests. Has anyone got any recommendations they could share for a TA able to take our requests and maybe suggest a different location?

Thanks

Paul

Take a look at BA's city breaks to give you some ideas. They also seem very reasonable at certain days in the month. We did a lovely one to Berlin in December staying at the Hilton which was vey central for getting around and under £500 for 3days for two people.

Have you considered Jersey Channel Islands. This is a great place for exploring, great restaurants, resort free, great hotel choice. We have had some great weeks there. Try British airways or flybe. As cheap or expensive as you like. Busy or quiet places to stay. Good luck. :D

An obvious choice, but I was entranced by my first visit to Mallorca. Don't be put off by the bucket and spade image - places like the towns of Alcudia and Soller are stunning, with beaches nearby. I favour the towns as they have more local amenities - supermarkets catering for the locals, bars frequented by locals rather than tourists etc.

Palma itself is beautiful, for some reason reminder me of Paris. In the sun. Oh the sun!

Puerto Pollensa is a vey nice resort - try the Illa D'or Hotel or apartments.
