I'm on 103 tomorrow (connecting to DL to Nashville) and it won't allow me to check in. All i get is:

"Sorry we are unable to continue with your Check in. Please go to the Virgin Atlantic Ticket and Support desk for assistance at the airport."

I'm in VS premium over to ATL. Any idea why or is this the infamous IT gremlins again? :0

Maybe, or perhaps they just want sight of your passport. It happens sometimes, annoying but nothing to worry about I am sure. Might want to keep trying and see if you are able to.

Have you upgraded??

One of the primary problems is when the extra fees are not taken (for example the CC has subsequently expired).

No upgrade. I paid for premium, selected a seat and left it that way.

I'll keep trying over the course of the day. I had luggage anyway so they'd have to see my passport when i go to LHR.

As above, I seem to recall reading a small, random selection of passengers can't do OLCI and must check in in person for security reasons.

This has only ever happened to us twice and was because the flight was overbooked. The first time we were booked into PE for our return from BGI but then upgraded to UC. The second time was also a rtn from IAD and we had been unable to do OLCI, when we arrived at check-in they offered us a downgrade from PE to EC. We flat out refused and after some frantic typing we were given seats in PE.

This happened to me in February. As I was using miles, I was worried that I had been bumped off the flight, so I rang customer services and could get no information. I eventually travelled to the airport extra early, to be asked whether I was prepared to swap seats to an identical seat at the other side of the plane!!
This was dreadful customer service - why could they not have asked me this when I rang the previous day?!

OLCI lets you get so far - but will not issue a boarding pass - if you have been SSSS'd. (Selected for Secondary Security Screening - so you get all your hand luggage searched at the gate).

It does make a mockery of the system - if the SSSS is random, then don't print it on the boarding card. Anyone who is up to no good & sees SSSS on the BP will know to ditch anything dubious that they may have. Just leave it completely random & linked to the barcode on the boarding pass.

I booked flights to the US via ATL in the past month or so and was able to select my seats. Since about a week ago I can no longer view the seat map, worrying this means we might get bumped due to overbooking

Last time it happened to us they tried to put us in economy with an UC ticket. :(!

I know all airlines do it and its written in the terms and conditions but its still such a pain to happen. In our first case as the only free seats were in upper all four of us managed to get upgraded but with out upcoming flights in July, a few days before 4th July weekend I'm doubtful of UC seats which could mean a downgrade

The seat map locks out once the quota of seats available to select in advance is reached.

If the flight IS oversold, those who check in last will be the ones who get bumped.

But wasn't that because they changed the aircraft to an A330 with no UC cabin?

Extremely annoying but couldn't happen now as all VS aircraft now have UC.

Yes gumshoe, that was the reason and that is not going to happen now, not for that reason at least. But it still sends shudders down my spine. :0

I have had that error a few times actually, and I tried again and again until it worked... No idea why!

Good luck!
