Dave,

I have Firefox installed on all my collection of machines (hey, everyone needs a hobby!) and have found most of them upgraded themselves silently to 1.5 in the last few days already. A neat trick by the good folks at Mozilla to even out the load on their servers?

Having said that, the Mac Mini I'm typing this on at my bedside (too much info??) is still 1.0.7 so I'll go off & follow your link, thanks!

Ditto Dave ... my office machine upgraded itself to 1.5 :)

I've just upgraded to v1.5, however I think there is a glitch with the v-flyer site.

when in the forums, the left column (continaing member info) automatically stretches to the widest part - eg in this thread, on highflyers post, her "V-flyer cabin services supervisor" tag is all one line, rather than wrapped to the next - meaning the actual width of the column for the post is "squashed"

does this make sense??!!

it is even more apparent where a non-member posts, as the columns re-size to show "With XX posts, I qualify for a Red Member Kit." on one line.

let me know if this isn't clear!

(it was ok with firefox 1.0)

hmmmm! must be just me then.

I'll give my PC some sleep tonight, and see if it's still moody tomorrow!

Yup, same happens to me, though I think the glitch is with FF rendering the code rather than the V-F site ;)

Ironically, the same happens with me on my work PC but not on my laptop.

How strange!

I'll double check the version on my laptop later to see if i can figure out why as im sure i have v1.5 on all of my machines - unless its something really stupid like being down to screen res or something?

My laptop normally runs at 1400x1050 - just changed to 1024x768 and there's no difference in FF appearance....

Had a hard drive crash last night. Luckily I take regular backup, but I do not know where the Firefox bookmarks are stored to recover them. Any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure they're stored in your profile, if using M$:
Documents and settings[username]Application DataMozillaFirefoxProfiles[profile]bookmarks.html

Probably easier using Bookmarks Manager to export a copy somewhere easy to find and backing that up.

Silly me, I guess I didn't realize what Richard was asking, the problem actually does happen with me. [:I][:#]

There is a great extension you can get that uploads your bookmarks to a server when you close FF and downloads them when you open it, or whenver you want. Great for synching work and home PC.

But my fave extension has to be Bork Bork Bork! - it allows you to translate pages / certain sites into Swedish Chef. Great fun to set it to the company homepage and whenever anyone looks at it on my PC they are v confused. :D

I have a problem with the latest version of Firefox, oram bieng a bit thick (which is probably nearer the mark!)
I have lost the pane scroll bars down the right hand side and along the bottom of any page when using FF 1.5
How do i get them back?

OK, sorted it now.
It seems the theme that I was using and worked correctly under previous versions, does not work correctly under 1.5. Removed the thme and back came the scroll bars.

No, just the boring spheregnome. I really should look at changing it for something more snazzy :D

Alan, if you are looking for something new, try 'Mostly Crystal' (based on the Crystal SVG for Linux) as that is very nice, and had been rebuilt for 1.5.

As far as i know, a lot of the older themes for 1.0 are not compatible with 1.5 (though the above is). Mozilla are requesting that you contact/email the theme author to tell them that the theme isnt working in 1.5 so they can amend it.

(not that i should encourage themes after having to remove 'PimpZilla' from several users machines of late :D)

I have just looked on the theme web site and version 3 is out for the Pimpzilla :)

For those reading this but have no idea what we are talking about, click here for a screenshot.

My colleague who is still running PimpZilla has described it as 'sickeningly awful ... but im keeping it until i find something worse'

As a side, have you all seen Portable FireFox

Apologies if its old news but i hadnt seen it before. Its basically a fully functional package of Firefox designed for use on a USB key drive ... and it rocks!!

I had a rubbishy 16MB USB pen in the office but now i have put Portable FF on it, imported all my bookmarks over, so whenever im using someone elses computer running IE or whatever, i can stick my USB pen it, run FF and tabbed browse to my hearts content, with all the bookmarks i need, without installing anything on their machine!

I have to admit to not understanding a word you were all saying, BUT I followed the links you gave and I now am the proud user of FlyingFox 1.5 rather than Explorer. And very good it is too - faster than IE I think - thanks for the tip.

I even managed to install a theme called iPox, which is really rather natty!

So busy working with tabs now as Sarah suggested.

Now if they invented FlyoingFox for windows CE.....
