First time flight with Virgin Atlantic - good seats?

A Virgin virgin here (I am usually on a BA flight). In September we are flying VS to SFO on a 747 (both ways) and we have booked the two seats in row 14. Seatguru suggests that these are good for a couple but there is no overhead storage. Is Seatguru correct in both these aspects (I know it is not accurate for BA flights). Are these good seats?

You should be fine in 14 , don't worry about storage space , there's usually plenty to go around

All the seats in the a zone nose section are fantastic and are always my first choice when flying on a LHR 744.

I'm in 16A, 16K (again) for my SFO flights in June/July.

One thing I will say is when your depart SFO for the flight home, you get some amazing views of the Golden Gate bridge and the city on the K side of the cabin

if you go over the golden gate, there is a turning on the left that takes you up to along the mountain road.
Can get some great views from there.

I have only flown on the Gatwick configuration and always choose row 6 which is right up the front.
Would that be equivalent of 12? I love the cosiness.
No overhead lockers but as others have said not a problem if you either board early or just get the crew to stow your bags.

Yes, rows 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 on the LGW 747s correspond to rows 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 on the LHR 747s.
