I may be going if I can find a holiday day. The later one though and subject to them having a spare beginner space.

Totally ignoring the remarks of NYLON and serenswall :w it is a brilliant day out!

The first one was held in The Grove in Watford about 10 years ago and was won by [proud mamma font on] Aer John at the tender age of 16 [/proud mamma font off]

We had a brilliant day and I struck lucky. Family and friends were not allowed but because of his tender age I was able to be there (although I took myself off to London while the competition was on to have lunch with a friend) and the hospitality was great. We were also at the second one where he won the prize for the longest drive. I can't remember where it was other than that I spent a very pleasant day in Bath during the competition so it wa sin that neck of the woods.

After that, exams and university took over so others got the chance to win but it really is a great day.

Enjoy!

The grove is the one I may be able to make (the (later) date for that). I'm not being specific as it seemed obvious from the text of the email that it's a limited invite day. I've never had an invite like it from BA, so kudos to Virgin for the hospitality.

Honeylamb has made me decide to definitely try to get to Grove if they can give me a "beginner" space.

Anyone else going on the "grove" day and also a beginner? (I'll confirm on thread if they can fit me in once I attempt to sort the lack of leave out with the boss - running out in May is no joke, but is what comes of 6 weeks of long-haul holidays being booked).

Thanks Honeylamb. Sounds like a good day even for someone who has never played golf! Bearwood is about ten minutes away for me so a no brainer on choice!

I have been invited and will be along at Bearswood - even though I have never played before :D

Great! Look forward to meeting you. Hard hats may be advisable for those around if I have a golf club in my hand ;-)

Starquake - hope you got on, there were a few no shows on our day and one who arrived for breakfast then disappeared before the tuition.

Was an excellent, fun day and good to meet you Buns!
