After a long wait the Murrell family's holiday back to Orlando finally arrived, we traveled up Wednesday night and had our first stay at the gatwick bloc hotel , got to say if you like your aircraft spotting like me then this is a must stay, we normally use the gatwick Hilton but not anymore a lot cheaper and so much cleaner with panaromic views of the whole airport.
Not up to early the next morning as on the vs15 departing at 1pm but text first thing saying a delay of 1 hour, headed down to the v room about 10 am after a little shopping.
This was our first experience of the vroom and very impressed we were with the whole thing food great and lots of things to do for the boys. Called down to start boarding around 1pm the que was massive and no one looking out for priority boarders tried to push our way through the crowd but a few comments where made so we just waited in line. Lady bird was waiting for us, we took our 5 seats in premium, very nice location due to no one behind you. Captain apologised for the late departure due to the aircraft coming in late that morning, a flight time of 8 1/2 hours which was good leaving the coast of England the next coast we saw was florida in all the times we have flown to Orlando I've never gone straight across like that.
Now on to my entertainment watching which was non exsisting as my screen was not working after a few re boots still no joy, they said a lot not working throughout the aircraft , didn't bother me to much as not a great TV watcher but I like the sky map. The stewardesses couldn't be more apologetic.
The condition of lady bird seemed a bit grubby with my sons seat a bit sticky, I think it had come in from Vegas which may explain that.
Time for lunch a choice of shepards pie chicken curry and a pasta dish, this is where row 19 has its disadvantages no shepards pie or pasta left, again the senior stewardess come to speak to me after the IFE issue the no food choice we wanted she offered us the UC menu which was really nice of her.
After a very smooth flight we arrived at Orlando the boys very tired, along que at immigration but limo waiting for us to take us to the first hotel Disney port Orleans for 6 days the royal Pacific universal for 9 days.
In all I still love flying Virgin apart from the screen and food the staff onboard were excellent and really looked after our 7 and 5 year olds.
Will post some photos when I get back.

Thanks for the TR y) y)

Interesting to hear about the Bloc Hotel - perhaps i had the perception that it was like one of those Japanese cube efforts ;) So glad you were able to join the V Room - I imagine the boys loved it in there ):

As to the flight - your experience shows, good CC can make up for any deficiency y)

Enjoy Florida - all those Theme Parks will ensure you come back needing a rest ):

Thanks for the TR & have a good holiday. I have thought of trying the Bloc hotel when next flying from Gatwick (probably 2016 now), having said that I do like using the Hilton at South Terminal.
