I noticed it as well when I was doing OLCI this morning for my LR flight later today. I think the new pages look pretty smart! y)

Just logged in too, slight change in flight times (back to the winter timetable) and a very different layout. Still the same old slow site though.

noticed it yesterday.
1st thing I done was check they had not moved me out of my seats :oD

I like how the information is displayed clearly about baggage allowance

I logged in to have a look and, while my seat selections are still there, it has decided to forget my passport information. :(

Took ages to log in, then put me straight back to the front page but with "Hello Whiterose" on the top line. Click on my name, whirling wheel, eventually get to My Account page, except that it's entirely blank apart from the titles down the left. And still like that 10 minutes later.

Hamsters on strike maybe?

Working fine for me.

The "Your Account" page is still the old one, but the "Your Future Flights" page is new. Still throws them up in any old random order though!

My problems above were on my laptop. On my tablet, I can log in, go to My Account, and then through to the new Future Flights page.

Just had a look at the 2 upcoming flights that we have and our LAX seats were intact but had totally new seats for MIA allocated! That is now sorted and managed to snaffle 12A&K on the 747 y) Think the new page looks awesome too ^)

The new pages are a big improveent on the previous, a nice clear layout and it all works smoothly from my end.

However, I have always found it strange that the VS website jumps from old to new to old to new formate, page to page. This makes the overall site look amateurish.

It does baffle me why a huge multinational organisation has such a tatty website when the internet is the window through which most of the world views VS.

I used to work for a company who's main website was perpetually in a state of being updated, with some pages done in old styles and some in a new style. Ultimately it takes a lot of time to update the look of a website, it's not just a quick reskin, there's testing involved too. There will also be the matter of doing the most "popular" pages first. It'll be done in time, updating your entire website in one go is just not feasible.

Agreed. And I suspect a lot of us would be surprised how (relatively) small the VS back room operation is compared to, say, BA.

If, as we found out a few months ago, the ticketing department has just a handful of staff I'd imagine the website team is even smaller.

BA is swimming with cash and, it could be argued, still hugely overstaffed as a legacy of its pre-privatised days (although Willie Walsh is doing his best to change that). VS has always been run on a relative shoestring.

Hopefully IT is one area where the partnership with DL could make a positive difference - and seemingly already has with the new seat booking system which appears to be running well.

Well some companies manage to release a new website over night if they do all the work before hand.

BUT VS started the 'new' website something like 2 years ago and for it all to be still not to be fully updated is frankly a disgrace.

My understanding is that the IT hamster (ticketing, schedules, reward bookings etc) moonlights on web design and back-end coding when he/she can.

The new "Your Future Flights" page has taken the VS hamster 20 months to complete because he/she could only work on it for 30 minutes per day.

Ah yes, the junior hamsters have taken control! They've managed in the six weeks since they were born to sort out those pages! As we all know, children nowadays are born with an innate knowledge of computer technology and can master complicated algorithms before they can walk and it seems hamsters are no different! :o)
