Anyone know whether you can claim EU261 compensation if an individual sector of a multi-sector itinerary is suitably delayed, even if you're only a bit late arriving at your final destination?

For instance can you put in a claim if your VS JFK-LHR flight was over 3 hours late but thanks to a long scheduled layover at LHR your arrival back at DUB was only an hour later than booked?

Thanks

I don't think you can as it is the final destination that is important not any intermediary point on a single ticket.

I'm afraid not, if you hold a through ticket to deliver you to Dublin at a certain time that's the contract with the airline. How the airline delivers individual components of that contract is up to them.

You may get some miles as a goodwill gesture.

Curses. Especially as I *ahem* forgot to go back to Dublin (though I was pleased to see VS had proactively rebooked me on a later BA flight when it became clear I'd miss my scheduled one).

Ah well, can't complain given the huge ex-DUB saving! And the JFK Clubhouse was a most amenable place to waste 5 hours although I did feel for the staff not being able to leave until gone 1am!

There's a lot of this forgetting going around these forums. We must be a very careless forgetful bunch ;) The Irish might start getting a complex soon what with all these people forgetting to get on the plane to their country.
