It appears over the last week or so there have been occasions where the 789's have been either been in situations where their flights have been subject to long delays or even cancelled.

For example VS7 yesterday had a go-around at LAX and now there is a 23 hour delay for the return flight. VS1/VS2 was cancelled yesterday. VS7/VS8 cancelled one day last week. Five hour delay to the PVG flight today which was also had a long delay the other week and I think the return was cancelled.

Anyone know what's going on?

We'd have to try and work out their rotation to determine if a delay on one route has a knock, for example the plane that often flies DEL-LHR then goes on to the VS1 LHR-EWR or used to. It may be that these issues you mentioned are related in a similar way ...

Just like any new aircraft in an airlines fleet , VS too are having teething troubles with the 787 .

You should google the amount of trouble ANA or AI had with the 787-8 . Compared to that the 787-9 has been a lot better .

The inbound 301 doesn't operate the VS 1 . with PVG on the 787 now . 2 of them and in the evening and 1 overnights at LHR .

Soon HKG goes live on the 787 . That is when the 787 utilization will get better as the 2 frames which land from DEL and PVG will fly off at night to HKG and DEL .

Unrelated perhaps but on my flight last week the crew were telling me that a LGW 747 got moved to cover a LHR flight the week before. Imagine the chaos switching to only 14 UC seats :-O

G-VNEW and G-VOOH appear to have had some issues over the last week. A 789 suffered some issues at LAX with an air con fault and then its second engine wouldn't play ball from what I have seen.

G-VNEW is showing on FR24 as not being active since the 30th June...
