Good morning all! A pleasant overnighter in the Premier Inn hotel by Heathrow was slightly spoiled when I received a text from VS stating a delay of two hours on our flight to LAX this afternoon. A little annoying as when we originally booked the flight it left at 12.45, then 3.45 and now 17.45.....there goes our first evening in Santa Monica! These things happen though and thankfully we will be in the serenity of the clubhouse, which will make a huge difference :)

Can anyone shed any light as to why the flight is delayed?

:-( oh dear poor you but pleased to learn you are quite laid back about it all - at the moment!
For me, all those extra hours in the Clubhouse wouldn't compensate for which is now effectively a time difference of 5hours since you booked that 12.45 flight to LA. However if you have to face such a wait time until 17.45 then you are in the best place :-)

Ditto! Was intrigued how they knew it so early on in the day, at least they gave us some good warning I suppose.

I'm in PE, do you happen to know if the clubhouse is accepting cash entries today? I've been refreshing the reward search page for UC for weeks, to no avail :(

The a/c operating the flight (G-VYOU) is operating the VS42 from SFO and only due to land at about 15:40 so that is the reason for the delay.
The VS42 is on time, so there has obviously been a need to swap other a/c around and with the VS23 being one of the last US flights operating on a 346 to leave it has meant you have had the delay unfortunately.

Ah yes see what you mean. I've been staring at the arrivals/departures, seeing no delays and trying to figure out the situation! thanks

Must be a couple of aircraft gone tech, because VBUG operated the previous 601, nearly 24 hours late....

If life was fair that would qualify for EU261 compensation, given petmadness'll be arriving 5 hours later than the arrival time quoted at the time of booking.

But of course life isn't fair ...

It is a bit annoying but, hey, I'm not considering it too much of a burden

Clubhouse was very busy when we arrived but it has calmed down a little as they have just called the delayed 21, 5, the Delta to LAX and now Boston. Always worth an ask at check in

Sorry o hear of your dreadful delays but hopefully wasn't too onerous sitting in the CH! Noticed that according to FR24 you seem to have made up a about an hour and now only expected in to LAX 90 mins late from a 2.5hr delay in taking off!

We landed at 8.55pm local and had a very quick exit from LAX, so all in all it could've worked out much worse!
