Following a great 3 weeks holiday, we had an amazing upper exerience on our outbound flight, trip report to follow. Sadly we are returning home today on the 16 to LGW this evening. We don't want to spend too much time in the Delta club lounge, how long does it take to clear security and get to the satellite terminal for departure?

Thanks,

Steve

It can vary but when we came home in March it took us about 25 min.
We went to the Delta for a drink, then went out to the Outback for a proper meal and returned to the Delta lounge for another drink.
It seemed to make the time pass better than just sitting in the Delta with their awful snack menu.

MCO security is pretty busy from around mid afternoon, just due to the large number of international flights leaving in a short period of time.
I've never spent more than 30mins in security, but then equally never sailed through without a bit of a queue, so it's a tough question to answer with any true accuracy. I personally wouldn't leave it to close to the flight.

As has been said above, MCO security for Airside 4 gets very busy late afternoon, as all the long-haul flights to Europe want to depart in the space of a few hours. At peak season, there will be 5 Virgin flights, 2 BA flights, 1 Lufthansa & 1 Aer Lingus.

That said, back in May, I was amazed by the TSA - the screening was almost pre-9/11. Leave everything in your bags (laptops & liquids included), take no metal off your person (so keep belt & watch on), keep shoes on etc.

Suffice it to say I got a far more thorough screening at Leeds Bradford a couple of weeks ago, when the zip & button on my jeans activated both the metal detector & the body-scanner. Even got a good telling off from the security screener for looking at the screen of the body scanner to see what "zone" of me had activated the alert. (Err, don't put the screen where I can see it then!)
