I've noticed that G-VWOW operated the LGW LAS route yesterday and will be doing so today. I'm travelling that route in a few weeks and wondered if anyone can tell me if its just a temporary thing (one of the LGW 747's gone tech or something) or whether this is planned to be used on the route on a more regular basis?

Also, we are travelling in PE, are there still incidents of the crew stopping the alcohol service half way over?

Almost certainly just a temporary thing. At this time of year VS really need all their LGW 747s (there are 5 flights to MCO on some days) so if one goes tech they're in trouble.

With G-VWKD having moved up to MAN to cover the LAS route over the holiday season, things do indeed seem very stretched.

My Son and his Fiancee are on this one tonight.
There's a 3hr 40 mins delay due to Cosmic Girl leaving LGW late...a knock on effect from yesterday as well.
Ater getting Seq 1 and 2 for them in 7 and 8 A at OLCI last night seats have to be re-assigned at check in.
So far only 14 pax in UC so they should have a good choice.
Bubble is completely empty so far

A LHR-based plane usually spends some time over in LGW in the summer months, usually servicing the BGI route but also taking up the slack on other routes especially if any of the LGW fleet need to go for a routine check

I saw G-VWOW parked up at remote space at Gatwick on Wednesday and thought she looked out of place. It was mid-afternoon too when all the Gatwick birds should be well on their way.

G-VWOW was due to to return back to LHR today but is once again operating the VS043 today. As others have said, the busy summer months stretch the 747 fleet and looking at flights myself for next week see that a LHR 744 will be operating from MAN for at least one day next week to MCO and is also scheduled to be in GLA too!

Things do change of course!
