I've just booked Virgin flights (economy) for my son & his girlfriend to fly LHR to EWR, returning JFK to LHR. Can anyone recommend a lounge in LHR & JFK? I assume that as a Flying Club Gold card holder there are no vouchers I can use to get them into the Clubhouse? (I'm not flying with them)

For the way out you can book No1 Lounge in Terminal 3. There's a thread running at the moment on the various booking options (Virgin vs direct) viewtopic.php?f=4&t=290704

JFK T4 has the Wingtips lounge http://wingtipslounge.com/ but be warned, there doesn't seem to be a way to reserve a space (unlike No1 Lounge) and it gets busy so paid entry may be refused anyway. There's a review here http://travelsort.com/blog/review-wingt ... passengers and if you look at the list of Airlines who use this lounge for premium passengers you can see why it gets crowded.

VS have been known to offer pay-as-you-go to the LHR Clubhouse for about £65 each but I have a feeling only for PE pax and only if it's quiet which it isn't often now DL pax use it.

There is, of course, the Guest List option at LHR but it ain't cheap.

Otherwise as mentioned above at LHR it's the No.1 lounge which is a cut above most shared lounges. VS offer a discount plus miles for FC members who book in advance online. I'd say that's their best bet for guaranteed lounge entry.

If they are lucky to get in, it's only for 2 hours, one and a half if you take into account leaving at least 30 minutes early for boarding call.
