MCO via ATL

I have noticed on a few posts recently people are flying to Orlando via Atlanta and just wonder what the reasoning is behind it.

Price. At booking the price was much cheaper than the direct LGW-MCO flights. I'm flying LHR-ATL-MCO in 3 weeks, it will be interesting to see how much of an inconvenience this route will be.

As others have said, we all know MCO prices and reward availability can be expensive and difficult to come by, especially at peak times. Many people already go indirect using places like NYC and an internal, what Atlanta offers is a closer and shorter connection and more importantly for those based in the North, another option ex MAN.

Plus: extra TPs; LHR rather than LGW (more convenient for me plus better CH); fewer kids; ATL is relatively pleasant & user friendly compared to, say, JFK or MIA; easy, frequent connections to MCO.

Same reason as we used to suggest going via MIA who now appears to be unwanted and unloved!

- bigger UC cabin = more chance of reward seats

- access to LHR CH (for LHR departures obviously)

I have just got back from mco I went and came back via JFK because of cost I got upper class cheaper than premium direct to mco

Just booked again to travel to MCO through ATL as it was so seamless.

For me, with MCO flights down to one a day out of MAN when I wanted to fly out at the end of September, they are all sold out in UC. Coming back from TPA (as I am at the Gulf coast) in early October, the MCO flights are sold out in UC again and with being Yorkshire based, I am trying to support MAN operations and ATL opens up lots of options.

Just need JFK now.......

I'm flying LHR-ATl-MCO outbound and then MCO-JFK-LHR on the inbound as it was cheaper and I can use the LHR clubhouse on the way out and the JFK clubhouse an revivals on the return.

I am flying to Orlando next year but chose LGW - MCO and then JFK-LHR because I wanted to avoid the 330-300 aircraft used on the Atlanta route.

I know the JFK route can sometimes operate with a 330 but hopefully that won't happen

Hate to say it I quite like the 330's in the Y or W cabins - good entertainment system (same as the LGW 747), decent legroom in the extra legroom rows (but don't take the middle plane ones that are used as a shortcut during night flight by lazy people). I'm probably one of few who route to take that plane (I've been on ~9 330 legs in last 2 years due to them being on the defunct Mumbai route)

UC I admit is slightly less good on the 330 - but I wouldn't say no to flying on it.

Not for too much longer hopefully. Changes for the better are rumoured to be afoot.

I flew on the a340-600 on my way and way back on to Orlando via JFK on vs3and vs4 I had the middle row seats the down side to that is no air vents above in the middle row in upper class
