I'm sure I've seen a post a few weeks ago about difficulty booking ex-EU flights with Expedia - getting to payment and booking failing.

Anyway, I've been having this problem today booking ex-DUB to SFO. Even phoned Expedia but they couldn't do it, 7 attempts in all with message that flights have sold out.

Quickly tried ebookers but no ex-DUB flights showed in search, but didn't try multi-city.

Anyone got any tips or clues as to what I can do? Very frustrating.

Cheers John

Hey John, could we have the dates of travel to give it a go?

I booked an ex-DUB to SFO a couple of weeks ago, exactly the same problem with expedia...Although I recently booked an ex-DUB to JFK and expedia was fine, I wonder if anyone at all has has any success through expedia for SFO?

Anyway, ebookers did work for me, the only catch being I had to accept a much later flight than I wanted for the DUB-LHR sector (day before) and it was aer lingus, it didn't offer me as many options as expedia.

Another option would be to call flying club if you have the exact itinerary mapped out in front of you, they should technically price and book it for you, although it seems people have mixed success attempting this.

John,

Its probably the connecting flights that cause the problems - I found when booking mine, it was fine with Aer Lingus connecting to LHR but when using BA, it got to the payment screen then showed no available flights

Thanks guys,
@seany I was booking 9th May to leave DUB, 10th May LHR-SFO, return SFO-LHR 24th May, LGW-DUB 26th May. It was mixed with BA and Aer Lingus doing the DUB legs.

I think I'll try different flight times and look for some Aer Lingus flights. Maybe try some different dates as my dates can be flexible within a 3-4 week window (I'm working around school holidays for one of my staff so as long as I steer clear of school holidays I'm fine).

Finally done it!
Eventually I tried the multi-city tool on Expedia. Previously this had not been bringing up flights with VS when I tried a couple of weeks ago, then my last try it was bringing up routes which included VS but at a ridiculous price (£3k pp). Finally tonight / this morning it was pricing at a rate that I was looking for with BA / VS, including a 2 night stopover before the last leg back to DUB. It cost me an extra £90pp but I was happy with the price of £1327pp, which is roughly the same as it would cost me to book an M fare in EC and upgrade to G with miles (except there are none, been checking 3x day for 2-3 weeks!).

So at last it's booked, booking showing on my FC account, VS41/42 which are scheduled to be on 787s and seats selected. Hallelujah!
Expedia are offering me discounted hotel rates if I book in the next 20 days, and I've just checked for the dates we want to be in LAS, and I'm getting offered the Wynn / Encore for £116 per night inc breakfast for a panoramic suite. I might just snap that up.

Anyway, thanks for help guys.

I'd check the normal Expedia price for the hotel - ie without being logged in - before booking.

I've been offered discounted rates for my trip to ORD and in a couple of cases the 'sale' price is more than the normal price ! and the price being discounted is higher then the non Sale offer as well.

Thanks Tonty,

I'll bear that in mind. I had checked prices before I got my flights booked, and this is the best I've been offered so far as breakfast is included and wasn't previously. It is currently better than any deals on the Wynn Insider website as their discounted rates for May haven't been loaded yet. The Expedia rate is cancellable too, think I'll watch it a couple of days and see whether to book it. Got the rest of the trip to plan now too... exciting!!! :-D

To further complicate I saw an even lower price for the same hotel simply using the expedia mobile app!

Once I finally choose a couple of hotels I'll check the prices using all 3 options and then make a final decision.

You need a blooming degree in Maths these days to work it all out!

Glad you managed to finally sort your flights. Result having the new 787.

Out of interest, have you been to LasVegas before?

No, first timer, just dipping my toe with 3-4 days. We're going to do a few days in SFO then LAS and then back to SFO for a few more days.

Bretty, the reason I asked is because the Wynn is quite along way 'up' the Strip. I know you don't mind a walk but it's a long way even just down to the Bellagio for instance. For a great deal of the time, the Strip can be at a stand still with traffic so it doesn't make catching a cab easy.

I don't not profess to be an expert on the area by any means but I was surprised how far the famous Wynn was in relation to the other iconic hotels.

ps Pleased to learn you are returning to SanFranscisco to end your trip ;-)

Thanks. I don't mind a bit of a walk though. My 3 choices are the Wynn/Encore, the Palazzo and the Bellagio. First 2 gave large suites as standard rooms but the Bellagio doesn't, so is probably going to get eliminated eventually.
