MCO luggage transit from customs

Hi, we are travelling to Mco in a couple weeks and looking for some recent info re the use of the 8A luggage belt. We normally take our own luggage via the shuttle but this time we are a party of 7 with two needing special assistance. Has anyone used the conveyer belt between the. Terminals and how long does it take to get through. Also, I assume that ther is a lift up to the shuttle area as well as the escalator but is this only available for special assistance. Any info would be appreciated . Thanks

Like some members of your group my wife and I are not too mobile. We always use the belt to 8A. Last time it took about 15 minutes for bags to arrive but it has taken up to 45 minutes in the past. I guess it depends on the lorry taking the bags and when it is full to depart?
There is a lift near the folk who take your bags to put them on the belt to 8A. There is another lift to take you down to 8A in the terminal.
Hope your journey goes well. It is a worry when you have folk who are not fully mobile to look after. If you have booked your car with Virgin don't forget to use the online check in to avoid lines at the car hire desk. Have a great time.

Thanks for the info, I think we will try the lift route with a couple of luggage trollies. We have requested special assistance from the plane and been told that this will continue until we reach level 1 for the rental car. We always use Alamo online check in and this has worked well for us so far. Thanks again

I would always try and take your own luggage if possible.

We used 8A once but whilst in transit a thunderstorm came in which stopped the luggage handlers and we waited well over an hour for our cases.

I have always used the belt for my luggage longest I have waited is 15 mins and I flew economy

Thanks for the extra info. My other half is reluctant to give back the bags so we will try to use trollies via the lift then the shuttle then lift down to level one car rental. As we will be accompanied by special assistance I'm hopeful that this will work ok. Thanks again.
