FC miles upgrades to NRT? any options?

Are there any options to use FC mile to ugrade on partner airlines at all? I'm looking for flights to Tokyo in November What is the best routing? Hoping for some v-flyer wisdom. Thanks.

Miles can only be used for 100% reward seats on partner airlines, not upgrades.

So your options are to use miles for 100% reward seats on ANA (probably tricky) or to use miles to upgrade on VS to PVG or HKG and find a connection from there.

There are some reports online of ANA redemptions, however they are rare. If looking to use miles definitely look at PVG or HKG. The ANA option is probably not worth the stress

That's what I suspected. Thanks for the input.

We did manage two seats in first on ANA out, and two business seats back, all using Virgin Miles. It was HARD work! - I probably spent more hours on the phone than on the aeroplanes.

But I gather ANA economy is easy as long as you book when bookings open (T-330?)
