Checking in at Gatwick

Hello all!
Couple of quick questions on Gatwick
Flying out in Economy (I am a lowly Red) but my next 2 flights are in Upper (the Return and my next LGW flight), what are the chances of being able to skip those long windy lines and checkin either in Upper/PE. I am travelling with a Gold member but relying on the trains to get me to LGW so possibly not arriving at the same time.
Secondly is there still a secret door after security that will take you near to the lounge without having to go via the perfume infested waters of duty free?

unless you're with the other person i don't think you'll be able to use the UC checkin

as you leave the security hall, just before the escalators there's a corridor on the left signposted for the CH (among other things), i noticed it last week as i came through

You will only be able to use the UC check in for your economy flights if you check in with your Au Card holder friend.

And you'll only be able to access the CH if your friend is already in it and left your name at the door.
