Just been notified that the time of our VS001 flight to Newark in November has changed from noon to 15.20, not ideal ,but as currently no other reward flights currently available in UC on that day there is nothing we can do as have to travel on that date.

Hope you didn't have an onward connection arranged.

At least the streets of Manhattan will be clear now by the time you arrive, as the New York Marthathon creates traffic chaos on the first Sunday in November - although its a wonderful spectical to watch especially from the Central Park end.

Fortunately no onward connection, we board QM2 the following day for trip back to UK, it does mean though that we will be having dinner much later than planned. You are right about the traffic though "Hev60", every cloud has a silver lining & all that.

Also on the VS001 in November, luckily no onward connection either but as it's on a reward booking I'm constantly checking for availability on an earlier flight and may pay the change fee if anything comes up prior to going. A 3 hour + swap is a bit of a pain the butt, never experienced changes that big with other airlines normally just a few minutes either way, maybe I've just been lucky.

Same here, I will be checking frequently between now & departure to see if we can get on an earlier flight.

Same issue for me - spoke to VA about it and they're not budging on moving me to a different flight (such as the one departing that day at a time close to the original booking). Shame they won't, as they've killed our first evening in NY!

In the city that doesn't sleep? It's a pain when you've planned an earlier arrival, but even that time of arrival should allow enough time for a bit of a wander / food / drink...

Unfortunately it does ruin things for us - we'll be lucky to get into the city by 9.30/10pm, and our celebration meal was booked for 8pm at a restaurant that was ludicrously difficult to get the reservation for, so we've now lost any chance of eating there. Sad faces all round!

They changed my inbound flight in December a couple of times, the second time by only 1hr but inconvenienced 15 or so other people waiting on me(they are on a BA flight) they allowed me to move to the 18:30 out of JFK so that I arrived before the BA flight and only I was waiting for them, rather than the other way around. Took all of 3minutes to sort out. Couldn't fault them, far better than BA call centre.

More likely to acquiesce with a slot time in LHR

A few alternatives to VS001 have opened up for us now AlphaEcho, if you haven't already travelled it might be worth a look.

Good luck

Oldboy, I flew out on the 12th November and had been checking multiple times a day for 8 weeks prior to my flight, 6 days before my flight the VS111 opened up early in the morning and a quick phone call to the flying club got my flight changed. Persistence definitely pays off when it comes to booking/changing reward flights.

On getting the VS111 on the day I was flying it only showed up once for a couple of hours for the entire 8 weeks of checking and that was when I grabbed it. My other preferred choice the VS003 didn't even appear on the availability pages. So I was very lucky and had a brilliant flight to boot.

Many thanks for remembering we were after the same flight changes I'm now back from NY and had a fantastic time.

Have a fantastic trip on the QM2. I really envy you. I just love transatlantic voyages. As they say,
"It is not the only way to cross but it's the only way to cross !"

Bon Voyage. :-D

Many thanks hiljil, really looking forward to the trip, we have been on several cruises but this will be our first Cunard experiance.
