ok so I messed up and booked the wrong date home for our MCO to MAN flight in Jan. I had booked months ago and had chosen seats etc. We are flying LHR to MIA out (UC upgraded with miles) and MCO to MAN back (Amex upgrade to PE) but I was a day out on our return trip and only realised yesterday.

So I duly rang up, paid my £100 each to change our flight home and waited until it showed on my account. Then I went online to book our seats (had forgotten to do this when on the phone as still a bit angry with myself and just relieved to get two PEs again) but the seat map is all grey .

I rang FC and they said it has been withdrawn, which is normal practice for some routes , esp MCO which are popular. We are flying Jan 30 so not during UK school holidays.

I rang again about 6 hrs later to get a different operator but they said the same thing.

So now really miffed with myself. Have been told I should be able to book seats when checking in online or at the airport.

Anyone experience this before ? Can't help thinking there is something amiss going on here.

At least it is less than 8 hrs flight and it is isn't the end of the world to not sit with Hubbs.

Only a certain amount of seats are available for pre-selection, once they are taken then the seat map gets locked. There will be seats together still, which should open up at OLCI, just be quick!

That must have been very annoying. I live in constant fear of booking the wrong day/ month/ year and am constantly checking I have not made an error, be it flights, concerts etc. I get so carried away checking and re-checking dates that I often get timed out online and have to start over again!

OCD? Just a tad ;-)

Well I'm not checking mine again. I know I did it right when I booked. 100%
I'm pretty sure I got it right anyway.
I think I did.
Oh b*gger I'd better check.
I'm OK I did it right.

Ha ha, I can so relate to that..... I too check all the time..... but I had the 30th Jan in my head and booked house rental incl 30th, meeting up with family on 30th etc helped them with their flight plans for 30th etc etc..... then of course realised... we MAY get home 30th... but..... our flights booked leave on 29th. DUH

have never, repeat never .... made that mistake before and we are in Canada/USA most years. of course most West to East flights are overnighters..... I Know that !! maybe it was the gin's fault when I was booking !!

Won't make that mistake again I can assure you !

I almost did the same thing earlier this year, flying back from HNL to SFO and not flying back to LHR until late the following day. Thought I would take the opportunity to do a quick TP run from SFO-LAX-SFO with Delta prior to flying back home with Virgin. Was just about to confirm the flights and payment when I noticed I had them booked for the day I flew back from HNL and not the day after. Close call there. Now I just check multiple times before confirming anything.
