Hi all. I booked a companion flight today and I was told that as well as booking a qualifying ticket it also needs to be a semi flexible ticket. i.e not lowest economy. Is this right? I had a newbie on the phone so I thought I'd double check here :D

sounds about right.
for 99% of people, it's not worth the expense - as it can be cheaper to buy 2x of the cheapest economy tickets.

In economy and UC, unless you aren't paying for the fare yourself, I've rarely seen it cheaper to use a companion ticket. In PE, sometimes if can offer a saving because of the fare bucket you can use in PE.

Also, you only earn miles on the revenue fare, not the companion one.
