Hello,

Miles Booster sounds interesting now that I'm becoming a miles-collecting fanatic.

Have 2 x adult and 1 infant (on lap) seats booked in UC (using miles) from Gatwick-Orlando
and same for PE for Orlando-Gatwick next September.

Roughly what would this cost me, and how much in miles would I get back.

Perhaps I'm stupid, but the VA site isn't the most helpful.

Thank you, Stevey

Miles booster is just basically another name for buying miles.

I've just had a look at my upcoming return flight to MIA in December. I'm flying Premium Economy both ways (base milage = 4430 miles each way & 8860 miles for the return flight) and VS are offering me the option to buy a further 8860 miles for £88.60 - so that would double my miles earned. There is also the option for me to buy 17720 miles for £177.20.

It's £1 for each extra mile purchased.

You can buy and pay for the booster miles now via your online booking (in the 'treats' section), however, you only receive them after you have flown on your initial outbound flight.

Yes, VS are offering me the same rate to purchase miles on my reward Upper Class booking to ORD in May.

Again though it's only the base mileage (i.e. miles earned if flying on a revenue economy fare) or double base mileage.

There was a 20% bonus miles promo running between 9th Sept and 7th October, but that has now ended, but may well return at some point.

Hmmmmm. Just had a look at this myself. I have never bought miles.

I have a return (M to G) LHR to MIA next year.
It is 4430 miles each way, 8860 return.

I presume I get these miles "free" after I fly.

Miles Boost is offering 8860 miles for £88.60
or
17720 for £177.20

So if you purchase the Miles Boost, you will also get the "free" miles, meaning I would get 26, 580 miles after the
flights?

More than enough for another OW M to G.

Worth considering as I do not earn many FC miles these days.

Edit
So with my other VS flights next year I could earn and buy 47,970 miles for £319.80. Add to this the cost of a M fare TATL return at approximately £1200 that is going to be £1200 + £319.80 = £1500 approx for a G reward seat. Not bad, but it is still more than many an Ex-EU fare. Though with those one has to factor in the additional costs of positioning flights, time and effort and maybe hotel fees. Swings and roundabouts.

I shall give it some thought.

Yes you would still get the underlying 'free' miles (and TPs) for your M fare but as you have upgraded you are more than likely going to have to phone VS up for them as their over worked hamsters can't do it automatically.

Thanks tonty. We also had to do that last year after VS switched our flights to ANA. But the FC did sort it out promptly and the miles arrived relatively quick into our accounts after asking them. I had considered boosting them back then but used Amex points in addition to the points earned from the flights to upgrade next years flights.

It's a self-perpetuating cycle when you use the miles for M to G rewards, rather than full reward tickets.

So that means you can wait till they have a bonus - I made the rookie error of Boosting mine for our West Coast flights in April as soon as I realised about the scheme but then two weeks later there was a 20% bonus so boosted hubby's then - with hindsight I should have waited for the bonus

So,
- Wait for a bonus either before or up to 6 months after flight.
- Can earn base miles on reward flights.

Lastly, can I order them for the 2 adults in my party (to go into my FC account), or do they have to go into the 2 separate FC accounts?

Anybody know the base miles for LGW-MCO-LGW?

Thanks, Stevey

The miles go into the account of who's name is on the ticket
