OK, so I booked 2 one way flights (MAN > LAS & LAS > MAN) a few months ago using miles. I was lucky enough to get UC on the way out but this wasn't available on the way back but I did manage to bag PE.

So now I'm looking to see if some UC become available for the way back so that I can upgrade my PE (assuming I can do that with miles but I don't see why not as I bought them with miles in the first place.) However, when I plug the one-way journey back into the 'find your flight' box, the option to use miles becomes greyed out with the message 'Sorry, Flying Club miles cannot be used for this route'....how can this be true if I have actually booked this PE flight back for this route using just miles?

I'm pretty sure that when I've checked in the past that this option was enabled and it's only recently that it's not allowing me to choose it - is it something to do with the sale that is currently, a bug in the software or something else?

is there UC G available? if not then maybe you get the message, searching on one-way might also be a problem

i'd just search on return trips with flexible dates and see what it shows in the calendar view, if you see UC available on the leg/date you want then it's ok for doing an upgrade, just call FC and do it over the phone

You get the message (and disabled option) before being able to show the results (and I've selected show all cabins) so I can't tell if there's UC G available - other than by putting it in as a return journey as you suggested.

I'm just curious as to why it won't let me do it now when it obviously used to as I've booked a flight!

Just phone them up and ask thenm to check. You'll have to phone them anyway to do the upgrade

It's just Virgin's usual terrible IT gremlins at work.

If you click "More options" just to the right of the Return/One way selector you will be taken to an older looking booking screen which will happily allow you to search for one way miles redemptions from LAS to MAN.
