Mrs J and I fly to Grenada on 04/01/2016 in the wonderful world of UC again and are being joined by family members days later who are travelling CW on BA.

I was having a look on the BA website and came across the following on their website -

https://www.oneworld.com/ffp/lounge-access/

I was aware that it would be closing for the impending move for the terminal changes. I contacted BA who confirmed that the BA lounges would be closed from 06/01/2015.

Any idea when the CH closes? VS have advised me that the CH will be open for the duration of January.

I don't think VS have explicitly said when the CH will close. The V room is closed between 5 Feb and 30 Nov.

It would depend on the construction schedule for the new BA lounge which will be in the current VS space.

As I understand it the new BA lounge complex in the South Terminal will be in the space currently occupied by the V Room, the No.1 Lounge and Frankie & Benny's. The No.1 Lounge will move into the current Clubhouse.

In the North Terminal the current BA lounge complex will presumably become the new Clubhouse and V Room. What's unclear still is when the existing Clubhouse will close and what VS will use instead until the move.

It is a pity that VS don't keep us updated in the news section of their website. There must be a stage by stage project plan, which of course will fall behind in the way of all projects, but at least we'd have an idea.
Especially for those of us planning to use it in the near future. 57 days away for me.

Fully agree - this terminal move has been in the planning for ages. Virgin know exactly when their Gatwick Clubhouse will have to close as part of the project plan - so tell your customers. Virgin are quite happy to palm their Manchester customers off on a third party lounge, so at least be honest if some London passengers are going to get the same treatment.

I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but is it clear whether VS are getting shafted by this terminal swap, in regards to lounge space? Or is it a beneficial move?

I asked the question last week if they had a date for the CH closing and was told there was no firm date yet.

ISTBC but was under the impression that the plan is such that VS don't get displaced at all. It's BA who have to do without a lounge (BA's passengers will have to use the NT No1 Lounge) whilst the work to convert the NT lounge pavilion to VS's new Clubhouse is undertaken. Unless I'm mistaken VS will simply move to their new Clubhouse at NT on the day their flights transfer to NT.

If this is the case, then it must - in theory - be costing Virgin a lot of cash. Their LGW operation is smaller than BA's & they have fewer premium cabin passengers needing lounge access. Well done to Virgin for standing their ground & keeping the Clubhouse open.

Now we just need a decent lounge in that Virgin destination that is the largest one without a Clubhouse - Orlando. It'll never happen, but we can dream.
