basically looking to get back from Hong Kong with the Mrs later in year using miles.
I have a E>Pe upgrade voucher from my credit card but I also have miles for upper.
So PE would be 25k miles with upgrade used or
upper would be 60k miles, both with the same taxes.
The flight is over 12hrs, is it worth the 35k difference?
Or should I just spoil us?

Any help appreciated

Spoil yourself - but yes it is worth it.

With a 12h flight who doesn't want a proper bed?

That said... you can still grab a few hours sleep in PE. If you want to know if it's worth an upgrade:
Would you use the PE upgrade any other time?
Will it expire if you don't use it?
What would you use your miles on if you don't use them for an upgrade?

Only you can decide if it's worth it.

Absolutely worth the miles, I normally travel out to PVG and back via HKG, everything about the return in UC is enjoyable, the HK clubhouse is a VS gem and the timing of the flight is perfect departing HK just before midnight which allows a full day in HK and a few farewell drinks/meal at a sensible time before departure.
This flight normally arrives into the UK around 05.30, allowing you to get a full days business or leisure in --- providing you have had some quality sleep, I have done this in both PE and UC and for me there is no comparison, given the timings and the length of the flight treat yourselves, you wont regret it.............

I work at getting miles to go Upper even on a 7 hour flight.
Definitely worth it on a 12 hour flight.

will probably not use the upgrade voucher when this is booked.
but seems to be overwhelming
I usually travel either economy Virgin for leisure or Qatar business with work.
I suppose its a way to compare !

long flight then the UC is worth it. Especially if Revivals is open when you land at heathrow.
Especially if you can use the PE voucher elsewhere for a shorter flight.
Otherwise, it may be a shame to let the PE vouchers go to waste
