For some reason last nights VS601 to Joburg diverted to Lagos.
Interesting, no mention of a medical emergency on the website which was my first guess..
Hopefully the pilots did not receive a distress call from someone in Nigeria stating how their family inheritence had become "difficult to access" because of government restrictions and were offering them a large sum of money to help them transfer their personal fortune out of their country?
The flight landed safely in JNB at 09.55 this morning.

The flight has not yet arrived in Joburg should be on the ground in the next 30 min
You are right- never trust Google!
Flightradar shows VS601 as LOS-JNB and now just landed.

with such a short stop in Lagos, must be either medical or disruptive pax...
Don't think it was anything technical as the aircraft is now doing a training flight to Durban, they have been doing the training all week .
In the website it says the aircraft needed to take on extra fuel due to a change in the routing
My son was on VS601 - not heard from him yet. Was only a short stop in Lagos. Strange.
Virgin twitter feed says needed extra fuel due to airspace closure. Didn't say which airspace.
There was an ATC strike in Niger that closed/reduced some airspace, possible that Virgin didn't notice till the aircraft was airborne so had to stop to refuel for the diversion.
