Manchester airport

hi all
i'm going to Orlando 31 August and i have never gone from Manchester before
looking for some advice.going up by train and staying the night before
which hotel is best .And what it like for getting from train station to hotel then on to airport
Is there any lounges there that we could use
There will be 3 adults traveling

The raddison is connected to the airport by an inside walkway between terminal 2 and the station. The Hilton is over the road from the station and the crowne plaza and brewleys hotel (may have changed name) are a short walk from the station towards terminal 3. All of these hotels have shuttles that can be called from the station or terminals.
As to which is best I like the Hilton. The raddison has good views on the airport side. It depends on which fits your budget or needs.
MAN is easy to get to by train and well connected.
In the airport there is the escape lounge but that may get crowded.

I personally think the Raddison is over priced for what it is. You are paying for convenience / location.

I prefer the Crowne Plaza here over the Hilton (having IHG Platinum status here may slightly sway me though )

No brainer then. It's perfectly adequate and does a decent breakfast - and bear in mind none of the lounges at MAN do much in the way of hot food. It's a 5 minute walk from the station (albeit across a busy road with no pedestrian crossing) or there's a shuttle which you can summon using the courtesy phone on the station concourse.

Have stayed at both Hilton & Radisson but prefer the latter for the ease of entry to Terminal 2. Problem at the Hilton was the queue for the shuttle. We waited 10 mins and were lucky enough to get on first one but there was a large party of ladies behind us plus others probably another couple of busloads in total who had to await for its return

Would have been quicker to walk!

You can't beat the Radisson, quick stroll down to check in then back for a cracking breakfast overlooking the terminal 1 ramp.

As above, you cannot beat the Radisson for convenience, but it is pricey. The food in the "coffee shop" type bar/restaurant was reasonably priced for an airport hotel. Dine in the main restaurant or take breakfast & you are being fleeced big-time.

Do look at Premier Inn's - there are two on Runger Lane near the airport & one at Heald Green. All three offer a fixed price £6 taxi to the airport & you can get rooms for as little as £39. If you want a clean room, comfortable bed & decent nights sleep you won't go far wrong. The food & drink at these places is cheaper than the main airport hotels too.

I have stayed at both the Radisson & the above mentioned Premier Inn's. Which would I look at first for our next trip to Florida in November? As I am paying, Premier Inn wins hands down. But if you want the pure convenience / someone else is paying, then go for the Radisson.

Although I no longer use MAN, I have stayed at the local Premier Inn and agree with Kraken, they are perfectly adequate for a one night stay prior to a morning departure. And one can not beat the price.

The same goes for the LHR Premier Inn on Bath Road. £111 for a one night with 15 nights Purple Parking (Valet Service, Meet and Greet) is a bargain. Much as I love the Sofitel for T5 departures, its premier Inn for me when departing fom T3.

Clayton Hotel (was Bewleys) was always our hotel of choice, especially the new addition on its left. Twin rooms here have two king size beds. Shower rooms are spacious and all amenities are first class. Shuttle to Terminal but if the weather allows, it is a short walk and a chance to breathe some air.

I haven't eaten there though so can't advise on meals there. I have stayed at the Raddisson and eaten there and it scores on links to the Terminal but is way over priced unless you are staying on a Saturday night ( as it is a Business hotel mainly, weekends can be cheaper).

Not sure what you are trying to compare MAN to LGW with regards to?

I stayed in the Clayton last week before our trip on VGAL to MCO, no problems, convenient shuttle and clean quiet rooms

Ever consider staying in the centre of manchester, it's 15-20 minute train into the airport, and lots more choice of eateries....

Personally, when we stayed at Raddisson before, we just went into the centre to eat and have some drinks....

You're travelling in August and the Radisson is already full? Wow!
We're unable to get in the Radisson as we're a family of 5 and they don't accept that many to a room. The only hotel that will do so is the Hilton.

Manchester is fairly comparable to Gatwick (albeit slightly quieter), it's a similar kind of size and baffling layout, especially T1 and T3. The newer T2 is much better.

If we stay at the Radisson or the Premier Inn at Heald Green (so both with very close train stations) we always take the train into Manchester for drinks & food the night before the flight. Whilst you're paying Manchester centre prices, it is far cheaper than either hotel (particularly the Radisson).

Looks like the drill for November will be check into Heald Green Premier Inn, drop the car off at T2 Meet & Greet, then train to Manchester. Food & drink, then train back to Heald Green. Taxi to airport the next morning - holiday - then pick up the car at T2 Meet & Greet on arrival back in the UK. Not as convenient as an on-airport hotel, but you save a lot of cash.
