Apols for asking but can't find this specifically answered on Virgin website

Emergency visit to Dubai (the guaranteed seat in Econ for Gold really does work! - brilliant). Am flying in Econ, does my Gold card get me any lounge access in Dubai? Will have a longish wait.

Thank you

check-in at the DXB VS UC desk and as AU i think they'll give you a pass for the lounge irrespective of travel class

it's the 'business lounge', once you're in duty free, head to the left, go up the escalator to the next level where the gates are, and it's on the left 1-2 minutes walk along from the top of escalator

it's no clubhouse, but there is a good view, comfy chairs and the food is way better than the average lounge

the VS check-in doesn't open until c. 3 hours before flight time, unless you have no choice but to be there that early i'd sooner have brekkie at the hotel and aim to check-in later (though if you'll have the working day traffic you may want some safety margin!)

btw if you've got an eligible ticket, points upgrades to UC at DXB check-in are usually available if you are there when it opens, i've done it a few times (i'm usually on a TA ticket which can't be upgraded in advance)

Website states that Au only gets you into VS Clubhouses but I agree with sungod, if you check in at the UC desks just ask them for a lounge pass and fingers crossed they give you one.

Guaranteed economy seat is very helpful isn't it. Hope you have a good trip.

Mr L2H is FC gold and we had access to this lounge back in June. We were flying PE.
Decent selection of food and lots of seating. Better than 'slumming it' and close to the gate.

Whilst the VS website makes it clear you only officially get into VS Clubhouses as a Gold FC member (+ a guest) if not flying in Upper Class....

Back in December in the Escape Lounge at Manchester, there were well over 14 people in there all with VS tags (either the approved cabin luggage ones or Upper Class ones). Some of said passengers did not appear in the Upper Class cabin either - so they had even bought entry, or were FC Gold & what happens on the ground does not match the website.

I've been in the Business lounge in Dubai - as above, it's not Clubhouse standard, but it is way quieter than the main concourse. Very good selection of hot & cold food (all Halal, obviously). Good selection of drinks of all kinds too.

I've been in the business lounge at DXB courtesy of my gold card on a number of occasions, in fact they were happy to let my wife and 2 kids in as well, and we were all in Y. I actually really liked it although many don't. IIRC It's run by the Dubai International Hotel and there's also a sister first class lounge that has better food but I think I've only ever got in there courtesy of OneWorld status...

EDIT, never mind, I just saw Nick's post, looks like everything is changing at DXB...

Thanks for the advice - it went smoothly. Seemed to be assumed that I would be going into the Lounge with the gold card. As has been said, not a Clubhouse, but perfectly decent.

(I then upgraded at the gate using miles as they had lots of capacity. It was an older aircraft, so the upper class booths were larger!. Perfect.)
